The City will be reviewing the Downtown East 2023 Five Year Action Plan

The Plan will be considered by Economic and Community Development Committee on June 26, 2019. It will be considered by City Council on July 16, 2019, subject to the actions of the Economic and Community Development Committee .

The staff report for the 5-Year Action Plan for the Downtown East was recently released and can be found here. This is a rare opportunity to create a holistic plan for the community that looks at chronic issues and the immediate housing and overdose crises. Given the general challenges we have getting comprehensive programs funded by Council and the added challenge of anticipated 2020 Provincial cut-backs, we are going to need to give this plan as strong a launch as we can and follow-up again when it gets into the 2020 Budget.

An online petition from the Councillor can be found here here for support of the plan and a survey here, to help build awareness and support ahead of Committee and, ultimately, Council.
